Quit Smoking Session
One focused hypnotherapy programme to help you stop smoking, protect your health and feel in charge of your life again.
Why stopping now matters
Smoking cuts into your life and health in very clear numbers.
- • On average, every cigarette smoked takes around 20 minutes off life expectancy in people who carry on smoking.
- • A pack of 20 removes nearly seven hours of healthy life. Day after day, the total climbs.
- • Lifelong smokers lose about ten years of life on average compared with people who never smoke.
- • Smoking drives heart disease, stroke, lung disease and many cancers, and remains the leading preventable cause of death in the UK.
The picture is tough. The good news is that your body starts to repair itself from the day you stop.
What your body does after the last cigarette
- • 20 minutes: heart rate and blood pressure move back toward normal.
- • 24 hours: carbon monoxide clears and oxygen levels improve.
- • Weeks to months: breathing eases, coughing settles, energy rises.
- • 1 year: risk of heart disease drops to about half that of someone who still smokes.
- • 10–15 years: risk of lung cancer and heart attack moves much closer to the level of a never-smoker.
These figures come from large long-term studies. Results vary from person to person, yet the trend is clear. Stopping brings life back.
How this quit-smoking session supports you
Smoking is not only a habit. It links to stress, identity, routine and emotion. Hypnotherapy works with that deeper layer.
During your session we:
- • Map your smoking pattern. Times of day, triggers, beliefs, pay-offs.
- • Build a clear decision to stop, with a date and a plan you feel ready to follow.
- • Use hypnosis to strengthen your choice, reduce pull from cues and link smoking to its real costs, not relief.
- • Rehearse life as a non-smoker. Social situations, stress, boredom, breaks, driving.
- • Create tools for cravings and difficult days, so you stay in charge.
Many people like to combine hypnotherapy with NHS stop-smoking support and, where suitable, nicotine replacement or medication. You decide what mix fits your health and circumstances.
What to expect from the programme
Step 1. Free phone consultation
Brief call to understand your smoking history, health and goals, and to check this approach suits your situation. You ask questions. We agree a stop date.
Step 2. Intensive quit session
Around two hours in one sitting. Education, planning, and extended hypnosis focused on leaving the last cigarette behind. You leave with a clear action plan.
Step 3. Follow-up support
A shorter review session or call within the first month, plus a recording to listen to at home. We fine-tune strategies for cravings, mood and weight worries.
Is this for you
This work fits you when:
- • You feel ready to stop, or nearly ready, and want firm support around that decision.
- • You notice strong links between smoking and stress, mood, identity or past experiences.
- • You prefer a psychological, non-judgemental space rather than fear-based messages.
- • You feel open to hypnosis and want a structured, evidence-informed approach.
If you have serious medical conditions, pregnancy, or complex medication, I invite you to speak with your GP as well. Therapy sits alongside medical care, not in place of it.
Questions people ask
Does one session stop every smoker
No single method works for every person. Some people stop in one session and stay stopped. Others need more support, or prefer to combine hypnotherapy with medication and local stop-smoking services. We review your progress and agree next steps together.
Will I put on a lot of weight
Some people eat more when they stop, often because they swap cigarettes for snacks. In our work we plan ahead for this. We look at hunger cues, comfort eating and movement, so your health gains stay balanced.
Is hypnosis safe
Hypnosis uses focused attention and guided imagery. You stay aware and in control, and you remember what happens. The aim is to help your conscious decision to stop smoking reach the automatic part of your mind.
Do I need to stop on the day of the session
For most people, the session links to a firm stop date. Often this date is the same day. We agree a plan that feels strong and realistic, rather than perfect on paper and hard in real life.
