4 structured sessions tailored to your eating patterns and goals
Virtual “operation” session recorded for home listening.
Focus on appetite, portion size, comfort eating and movement.
This programme supports lifestyle change. It does not replace medical advice or treatment.
How this hypno gastric band approach works
The hypno gastric band approach uses hypnosis and guided imagery to help your mind respond as if a physical gastric band has been fitted.
Across four sessions we explore your patterns with food, emotions and movement. We then build a personalised “operation” experience and support you to live as if a gastric band is in place.
- Understand triggers for overeating and night eating.
- Strengthen hunger and fullness awareness.
- Rehearse new choices and responses in hypnosis.
- Create a vivid inner experience of gastric band surgery.
- Support long term changes in eating and movement.
Who this programme suits
This work suits adults who live with overweight or obesity, feel ready to work on eating patterns and prefer a psychological route to change.
It does not replace medical assessment. If you live with complex medical conditions, you speak with your GP first.
Session 1. Assessment and new choices
Understanding your storyWe explore eating patterns, triggers and movement. Together we clarify what you would like to change and what you want life to look like in the future.
You experience an initial hypnosis session focusing on calm, safety and small realistic changes. We highlight strengths and resources you already use in other areas of life.
Session 2. Pre operation session
Preparation in depthReview progress and refine your plan. In hypnosis you meet your future self who lives with a smaller appetite and different choices around food, drink and movement.
We prepare you for the virtual operation session. You rehearse arriving at hospital, speaking with staff, and going to theatre in a calm and steady way.
Session 3. Virtual operation
Gastric band fitted in hypnosisYou experience a full guided sequence of hospital admission, anaesthetic and virtual surgery. The description follows the steps of a real gastric band operation, adapted to your situation.
Suggestions focus on comfortable smaller portions, slower eating, reduced desire to overeat and greater care for your health. This session is recorded so you can listen again at home.
Session 4. Follow up and adjustment
Living with the virtual bandWe review changes in appetite, portion size, eating speed and movement. Hypnosis focuses on strengthening helpful habits and addressing any difficulties that appeared between sessions.
We also focus on long term maintenance and relapse prevention. You leave with a clear plan and resources to keep using after sessions finish.
Your BMI and health
Body Mass Index, or BMI, offers one guide to health risk. It compares height and weight in a single number.
A BMI between 18 and 25 sits in the “Normal” range. Between 25 and 30 falls in the “Overweight” range. Between 30 and 40 falls in the “Obese” range. A BMI over 40 falls in the “Morbidly Obese” range.
Higher BMI often affects life expectancy and links with conditions such as cardiovascular disease, type II diabetes, stroke, some cancers, joint problems such as osteoarthritis and high blood pressure.

Is this a medical procedure
No. This work uses hypnosis and guided imagery only. No physical surgery, no medication and no recovery time.
Will weight loss happen for everyone
Results differ from person to person. The approach supports change in eating, movement and mindset. Success relies on practice, repetition and using ideas outside sessions.
Do you liaise with my GP
With your permission I can send a brief summary letter to your GP so they know you are working with a hypno gastric band approach alongside any medical care.
What if I already had bariatric surgery
We discuss your history first. In some situations hypnosis can support life after surgery rather than focusing on a virtual band.
